If you have just moved to Denmark to work (incl. EU citizens), to study or as an accompanying spouse, Lyngby-Taarbæk offers you an introduction course to Danish. This offer applies to people who are at least 18 years old and who arrived in Denmark after August 1st 2010.
When you register at the local Citizen Services office, you will receive information about the introduction course. The information is available in Danish and English.
What is the Introduction Course?
The introduction course consists of Danish lessons and a course in understanding Danish society. If you have a work permit, you can also obtain guidance on how to find and apply for a job.
If you want Danish lessons, please contact the Jobcenter, Toftebæksvej 12 on the second floor. Please bring your yellow card, or CPR documentation, and your residence permit.
Lyngby-Taarbæk offers a Danish language tuition for a total duration of 3 years, starting on the date that you begin your first class. You can choose which language school you wish to attend. The municipal jobcenter will help you to find addresses and phone numbers for the language schools. If you are employed, you can choose a special short course for employed people, called Intro-dansk, where classes are primarily in the evening and during weekends. Both options are free of charge. If you have an au pair permit, you are entitled to take two modules of Danish tuition free of charge.
